Our wonderful Italian friend Francesca is back to help us create an Italian al fresco dining night at the club. Expect wonderful aperitifs, amazing antipasti and some authentic Italian home cooking. Jump on your vespa and head on down.

ITALIAN MENU’ – Saturday 9th August 2014

1. ANTIPASTI

Peperoni Ripieni al Forno: all the flavours of Southern Italy come alive in this colourful dish of roasted peppers stuffed with anchovies, capers, olives, tomatoes, bread crumbs and a mix of fresh herbs all cooked in the oven.  

Salvia Fritta con Crudo di Parma: fried sage with Parma ham.

Mozzarella con Pesto Mediterraneo: fresh, creamy mozzarella accompanied by a pesto of fresh, aromatic herbs and almonds.

2. PRIMO

Panzanella:  a traditional peasant’s summer salad made of crusty bread, tomatoes, cucumber, onion and basil.

3. PESCE

Gamberoni al Guazzetto: a dish of the Tuscan culinary tradition made with shell on prawns, garlic, chillies, parsley, white wine and tomatoes, served with our focaccia.

Or

Funghi al Marsala: Porcini and field mushrooms with Marsala wine and cream sauce (V)

4. CARNE

Tagliata di Manzo con Rucola e Parmigiano: a favourite for meat lovers the slices of tender, seared sirloin are rare in the middle. They are simply served with rocket and Parmesan shavings with extra virgin olive oil.

Or

Zucchine giganti ripiene: Locally grown allotment marrow stuffed with ricotta and spinach and a little spiced rice. (V)

5. FORMAGGI

Tagliere con pecorino e miele e gorgonzola e pere: Our favourite Italian cheeses with some recommended accompaniments

6. DOLCE

Tiramisu’ alle fragole e frutti di bosco; A rich but summery dessert using ripe berries and their juices insead of the more traditional coffee flavour

Menu prices; £27.50 for 4 courses or 6 courses (including the Fish and Cheese course) for £35

Vegetarian options; We have listed vegetarian dishes in place of the fish or meat courses. Please advise us in advance if you would like us to prepare these for you.
