HSC W.L.T. Eat / Sheffield
Sheffield is a great spot for foodie treats from all over the world. Here are a few places we’ve frequented recently – they come highly recommended.
Gaillac red wines at the Club
Why do all but one of our wines come from Gaillac? Is it the wonderful climate and amazing terroir that make for the ideal wine producing environment ? Last year, our very own Alfie bravely set out on a solo journey to the south of France, to meet up with a couple of passionate wine aficionados in Gaillac. Taking the train from Toulouse, he journeyed through beautiful rural France on a tour of ‘what seemed like every single vineyard’ in the vicinity!
A Chef’s Special : France
You’re probably wondering what Vertical Horizons by Jack Alun has remotely to do with Hathersage Social Club. Well, first of all Jack Alun is a pseudonym for me, John Couth, Simon’s father and, second, the place the poems are about is where Simon first came into contact with the culture of the Aveyron.
Manzanilla sherry: not your gran’s festive tipple!
You may have noticed a few new additions to our menu. Some gorgeous Basque pintxos, spicy brunch specials and some favourite new tipples including La Gitana Manzanilla sherry – inspired by Lucy and Simon’s Autumn travel adventures.
The Ageing Gaijin – Tastes from Japan # 3
This is the third Chapter from our Ageing Gaijin in Japan. Here David shares the New Years Day tradition of o-sechi, a feast for the eyes and the palate. The most luxurious lunchbox ever.
